What’s your favorite word?

“Words mean more than what is set down on paper. It takes a human voice to infuse them with shades of deeper meaning.”

Maya Angelou, U.S. poet and author, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings (NF)

I love language. I think it’s incredibly important. The average household only uses about 50,000 wrods and to me? That’s absolutely appalling. I aim to teach my daughter to be a human thesaraus.

With that being said, my favorite word is going to sound extremely dumb and not at all intelligent.

Linolium.

I love the word, I have no idea why, it’s just a fun word to say, it’s enjoyable. I’m unsure why this word is so appealing to me other than the fact that I overheard a teacher in elementary school proclaim (in what i assume was supposed to be a “private” moment) that this was her favorite word, and she used a quote, its origins I am unfamiliar with but she belted out in her sing-songy voice,

“LA-LA-LA LINOLIUM”

She wasn’t even my teacher.
